Date: September 9, 2018
Time: 2:30 PM - 5:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Have you ever heard the old saying, “One person’s trash is another person’s treasure”? Alderman Joe Moore is again taking that adage to a new level on the weekend of September 8th and 9th when he sponsors another “TRASH TO TREASURE SWAP.” The Swap this year will be held at the Chicago Math and Science Academy, 7212 N. Clark Street. On Saturday, September 8th, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., drop off things you no longer want or need, but are still usable for others. Come back on Sunday, September 9th, to take home a treasure or two. Those who drop off items on Saturday get tickets to the “Preview Pick-Up” for first dibs on others’ unwanted stuff. The Preview Pick-Up takes place on Sunday, September 9th, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Certified school teachers are also welcome during this preview period to obtain classroom items. After the Preview Pick-Up, the doors will open from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., to anyone else who wishes to avail themselves of the remaining hidden treasures. Below are some examples of items you might want to swap: Household Goods Toys Art Furniture Craft Materials Hardware Jewelry Kitchen utensils & pots & pans Appliances Lamps Knick Knacks Leftover Wrapping Paper Baby strollers & furniture Bed frames DVD’s & CD’s Building Supplies Bicycles, bike parts and accessories Bookshelves Packing materials Holiday Decorations Garden Supplies Plastic bins Lawn Chairs Exercise equipment Sporting Goods Canned goods & Non-perishable food Office supplies Please do NOT bring clothing, shoes (except sports equipment), mattresses or upholstered furniture.
