New Ground Transportation Tax Collection Process For Non-Chicago Public Vehicles 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. Presented by the City of Chicago Effective 7/1/2017, Chicago's Ground Transportation Tax will be collected daily for non-Chicago public vehicles at O'Hare and Midway. Owners of suburban taxis and limos are strongly encouraged to attend this workshop to learn more about the upcoming changes. Department of Finance representatives will be on hand to provide an overview of the Ground Transportation Tax, discuss how the tax will be collected at the airports, and explain how to register for an account with payment and vehicle information. Attendees will also learn about the new streamlined process for obtaining a GTT/MPEA emblem to access the airports.
