Name:
Learn How to Appeal Your Property Tax Assessment Workshop
Date:
August 24, 2016
Time:
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM CDT
Event Description:
Learn how to appeal your property tax assessment and possibly lower your tax bill at a special workshop sponsored by Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Michael Cabonargi, Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin and 49th Ward Ald. Joe Moore.
Wednesday, August 24th
6:30 p.m.
Loyola Park Fieldhouse, 1230 W. Greenleaf (2nd floor).
The assessed value of your property is one of the factors that determine the amount of property taxes you pay. This assessed value is determined by the Cook County Assessor and can be subject to review by the Cook County Board of Review. If you believe your property assessment is improper, you have a right to appeal that assessment.
If you own property in Rogers Park Township (Devon to the Evanston border, Kedzie to the Lake), you have until TUESDAY AUGUST 30th, to submit an appeal to the Cook County Board of Review.
At the workshop, you will learn how the assessment process works, how to file a Board of Review appeal and how an appeal is granted. Please bring your property tax bill in order to more efficiently file an appeal. Staff from Commissioner Cabonargi’s office will be available to answer questions and help complete appeal forms.
If you are unable to attend the workshop, the Cook County Board of Review website provides an overview of the property tax appeal process, including step-by-step instructions on how to appeal your assessment. Visit, http://www.cookcountyboardofreview.com/html/res_tips.html for information on the appeals process.
You can appeal a property assessment online at: http://cookcountyboardofreview.com/.
Make sure you file your appeal before the August 30th deadline.
