Event Description:
Howard Street Makers Studio Presents: Kindred Open Studio with Jessica Juarez, M.Ed, LPC, NCC
For this session, Kindred Liberatory is hosting a Culminating Reception & Celebration!
As our culminating event, they are thrilled to invite you to their closing reception. Kindred can't wait to showcase all of the incredible work they have created together over the past 4 months and give you a sneak peek into what's next for their creative community. Plus, there will be light refreshments and a gallery show to enjoy!
Kindred Open Studio is inspired by art therapist and author, Pat Allen's Open Art Studio methods- where participants as well as the leader create art together as a community. Pat Allen writes, ?In this view, the healing aspects of art-making arise from the making and doing, the trying and failing, the experimenting and succeeding."
Kindred acknowledges, honors, and responds to the call for healing echoing around the world. For Kindred- individual and collective healing are at the core. We believe that when we combine the arts, community, and intention, we create a space for liberation and healing.
Intention: Kindred Open Studio?s intention is to provide accessible pop-up studios across Chicago and beyond where communities can engage in the arts process together so that they can connect, create, heal, and liberate.
Vision: Kindred Open Studio envisions a variety of pop-ups around the Chicago area and beyond where communities can have access to various art modalities, community building and healing.
Approach: Kindred Open Studio pop-ops will alternate between artists within various art modalities including, but not limited to visual arts and expressive arts, music and written expression.
Howard Street Makers Studio provides a safe space for creativity and healing.
Everyone is welcome to join during open studios where participants will explore different types of art mediums. Artists in residence will facilitate classes, community art workshops, spoken word/open mic, sip and paint, discussions and open art studio time with and for the community.
The space will offer participants access to supplies and guidance to make artwork or participate in yoga and other movement workshops.
