Alderman Moore Community Meeting: Morse/Wayne Development

Alderman Moore invites you to attend a meeting to provide the Rogers Park community with an update on the timeline and logistics for the construction of an apartment building on the southeast corner of Morse and Wayne. Tuesday, February 21 at 7 p.m. Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave. A year and a half ago, Tawani Enterprises proposed to construct an eight-story apartment building on Morse just east of Wayne. The proposal for this development was reviewed extensively by the 49th Ward Zoning and Land Use Advisory Committee–a group of neighborhood residents and representatives of the major community organizations in the ward that advises Alderman Moore on all zoning and land use issues–and the Rogers Park Business Alliance (RPBA). Alderman Moore also held a community-wide meeting on the proposal to solicit additional input. Based on input gathered from the neighborhood groups and community residents, Tawani made significant changes to the original proposal. Alderman Moore announced his support for the project in July, 2015. The City Council approved the zoning change in September, 2015, and the developer began navigating the City’s permitting process. The City issued building permits recently and Tawani is planning to break ground in March. They estimate the building will be ready for occupancy by summer, 2018. Members of Tawani’s construction team will be present at Tuesday’s meeting to provide a timetable and construction logistics for each step of the project.
