49th Ward Back to School Picnic
Join the fun at the 49th Ward Back to School Picnic! Join State Senator Heather Steans and 49thh Ward Alderman Joe Moore for an afternoon of family fun at the 28th Annual 49th Ward Back to School Picnic! A family tradition since 1991, the picnic will be held on Sunday, August 26th, 12 to 4 p.m. at Loyola Park at Farwell and the Lake. This event a community event and a back to school picnic. There will be plenty of free food and refreshing soft drinks and they will be offering a host of games and prizes and free school supplies. There will be bingo for the seniors and face painting and puppet shows for the kids, a DJ spinning your favorite tunes, dance contests, a moonwalk and other large, inflatable carnival toys. And most of all, they will be giving away backpacks filled with free school supplies to families! The world famous Jesse White Tumbling Team headlines the picnic with a stunning performance of their aerobatics. The Tumblers have been thrilling audiences since 1959. Their acrobatic performances can be seen during half-time shows for the National Basketball Association, the National Football League and Major League Baseball games. Many thanks to Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin for sponsoring the Tumblers' appearance again this year. In short, it will be a fun day for EVERYONE! So stop by even if your kids are grown or you've never had kids and enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon in one of Chicago's most gorgeous lakefront parks.
