Name: Pyrite Sun’s Autumnal Equinox Garden Tour & Gratitude Ritual
Date: September 22, 2020
Time: 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Event Description:

Come spend Autumn Equinox with Sarah Jane Mallin of Pyrite Sun on a grounding natural experience in the gardens at Colvin House.

Autumn Equinox (also known as Mabon) is the day of equality and balance when the day and night is of equal length and nature is at its fullest before the harvest. In the balance of light and shadow, there is also a transition that marks a reflection on the abundance of summer and preparations for the inward journey of winter that prepares the seeds we plant now for new growth in the spring. The hard work of harvest and preparation we put in now at this time of balance makes us stronger as we transition through Fall and Winter and experience the rebirth of Spring.

Giving thanks for life, health, animals, food, and community, we can honor equality in all forms on this cusp of a transition into the next stage of our lives together on this planet.

The event will begin with a tour of the grounds at Colvin House ? bursting with flowers, vegetables and herbs. Sarah will share growing information, answer questions, and talk about the historical healing properties of plants and flowers. Participants will look, smell, touch and taste life from the ecosystem created on this patch of Earth as they talk about the connections between plants, the soil, the millions of animals interacting with the plants and ourselves.

As the light of the day transitions into dusk, a fire will be lit and participants will build an altar of gratitude to the spirits of nature. Feel free to bring your own offerings of fruits and nuts for the altar, and your own picnic to enjoy around the fire. There will be a short, guided ritual and meditation to honor this time of harvest, completion and letting go of what is no longer needed. From this awareness, a short visualization exercise will be done to prepare for the coming months and plant the seeds of new ideas, energy,  hope and growth.
